About my Dayhome

My name is Rowena and I operate a home-based child daycare that I started in Winnipeg, Manitoba. After moving to Calgary in 2022, I decided to open my daycare here to provide children of all ages to learn, grow and socialize with other kids in a supportive, family-like atmosphere.

I am a certified Early Childhood Educator in Alberta and in Manitoba as well, with over 7 years experience working and engaging with children.

I believe that play and fun are great teachers and that children learn and grow through a playful exploration with a safe and stimulating environment.

I am certified with the following:

Alberta ECE level1 certification
Police Inspection and Vulnerable Sector Check
First Aid/CPR training
Alberta Food and Safety Basics Certification
Alberta Health and Safety Basics for Child Care Providers

My Program

My dayhome starts at 7:15 in the morning, and we begin our day by doing circle time. This is a special time to share chants, rhymes, songs, read a story, and participate in movement games and relaxation activities.

We then do fun indoor stuffs like painting dinosaurs, shape art activites, alphabet find race and many more.

And if weather permits, we do a lot of outdoor activites too. Like having fun playing on the nearest playgrounds, gardening, water play, blowing bubbles and chasing them as they float away.

I also organize field trip to the city zoo (if all parents agree). This is a great way for children to observe animals and experience the connection to wildlife.
